Biodiversity conservation in multifunctional territories through the implementation and scaling of agroecological practices and strategies

  • Post author:

The AgroLandScale project aims to analyse the effects of the implementation of agroecological practices and strategies for the conservation of biodiversity and the provision of ecosystem services in multifunctional territories. It studies agricultural and livestock areas of the Community of Madrid, through experimental and observational approaches, including social analysis of the implementation of practices by the productive sector, biodiversity sampling and participatory processes with key actors of the agri-food sector.

The project presents four specific objectives:

  • Characterize and evaluate the impact of the application of agroecological practices for biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services in horticultural farms.
  • Characterize and evaluate the impact of the application of agroecological practices in extensive cattle ranching for the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services.
  • Social valuation, prioritization and willingness to adopt good agricultural and livestock practices and strategies for the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services.
  • Design the scaling of agroecological practices and strategies for the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services in agroecological multifunctional territories.

This three-years project (September 2023-August 2026) falls under the KNOWLEDGE GENERATION PROJECTS 2022 call, led by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (Spain), through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF 2021-2027).
