The Agrolandscale project is pleased to announce the photography competition “Agroecological Practices and Strategies for the Sustainability of Multifunctional Landscapes”, aimed at showcasing experiences that contribute to the environmental, social, economic and cultural sustainability of agricultural, livestock, forest and rural landscapes.
The competition is open to anyone aged 18 or over and is particularly intended for farmers and livestock producers, people connected to rural areas, associations, agroecological initiatives, students, researchers, professionals working in the agricultural, livestock or forestry sectors, as well as amateur photographers interested in documenting agroecological practices and strategies.
Photographs may depict sustainable agricultural, livestock or forestry practices; synergies between different land uses—such as crop-livestock, forest-livestock or crop-forest integration; biodiversity and landscape conservation; sustainable forest management; community-based experiences; local markets; producer networks; the recovery of traditional knowledge; or agroecological education, among other topics.
The agroecological practices or strategies shown in the photographs do not need to have been carried out directly by the participant. Images of experiences observed on farms, in forests, landscapes, communities, local markets, activities or territorial initiatives may be submitted, provided that the photograph is original, taken by the participant, and complies with all applicable image rights, property rights and access permissions.
Each participant may submit up to 3 photographs in JPG digital format. Each photograph must be accompanied by a brief description explaining the agroecological practice or strategy represented and how it contributes to the sustainability of the territory.
The submission period is open until 11:59 p.m. on 20 September 2026. Entries should be sent by email to: agrolandscale@gmail.com
The competition offers a first prize of €200, a second prize of €100, and a third prize of €50. In addition, the three prize winners will receive outreach materials produced within the framework of the project, including the project booklet, infographics, and the field practices handbook.
A selection of 25 photographs will be exhibited on the website of the Socio-Ecosystems Lab and on mobile display panels in the lobby of the Biology Building at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
